Wildlife Illustrations

The drawings and paintings in the slide show are a few examples of the thousands of illustrations I have produced over the past years and give you an idea of the types of images I can create. I have used the following media: Pencil, Pen-and-Ink, Scratchboard, Colored Pencil, Watercolor, and Computer Painting. Using the computer to paint images allows me to greatly enlarge parts of the painting to add detail and to erase errors easily. I make a pencil sketch, scan it into PhotoShop, and add all the color and details using a stylus on a Wacom tablet.

I have about 2,000 images on my computer, but have placed over 1,000 of these images on a commercial web site (CanStockPhoto - see below). As of March 22, 2011, there are 1,545 images on my section of the web site, of which over 1000 are illustrations.

Where to find all the images?
You can see all of the images currently uploaded and order any you wish by signing on to: www.CanStockPhoto.com/birchside. Look on the upper right and find a number and the word "series" in a box. Click on the down arrow to view the series (groups of families or related species of birds, e.g. flycatchers, hawks, thrushes, etc. - and mammals, insects, and plants) currently uploaded. Click "GO" to view all images in each series. Or you can type a common name in the box "Search Portfolio" and click "search" to find a specific illustration or group of illustrations of the same bird.

If you do not find the illustration you are looking for on that web site, please email me kbaybird@aol.com and tell me what you need. I will let you know if I have an image here or can paint or draw one for you. Images purchased directly from me that are already drawn and saved are $1.00 each. If you wish me to draw or paint one for you, I charge $5.00 each and put that image on the Can Stock Photo site for others to purchase. Images purchased from me can be used multiple times but not given or sold to others. All images are copyrighted.

All images are available in JPEG (.jpg) format. If you cannot print color and want a gray scale image of a color illustration, let me know and I will convert the color to gray scale. All of the black-and-white (Pen-and-Ink) drawings are saved as gray scale images in .jpg format, not as bitmap images.

Payment for images purchased directly from me must be made by check that can be mailed to me at: Birchside Studios, 1600 N. Rio Buena Vista, Green Valley, AZ 85614. Our emails back and forth will constitute the orders and receipts for the transactions.
